  • During individual therapy, we work together to identify your goals and make a plan to progress toward these goals. At Renovated Minds we want to help clients heal from wounds, build awareness of unhealthy thinking, and live a life filled with hope, joy, and freedom. Often in therapy clients will learn about themselves and still struggle with relationships. Sessions are also offered for a spouse/friend/family member to join a session to practice communication and conflict resolution.

  • Sessions last 53 minutes and can be scheduled weekly or less frequent depending on client needs. EMDR sessions often go longer, typically 60-75 minutes. Confidentiality is a priority and your privacy will be maintained, in accordance to HIPAA, in the storage of client information.

TRAUMA INFORMED

Renovated Minds is passionate about providing quality mental health care, which is why we prioritize being trained and specialized in evidence-based practices. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a proven therapeutic method used when processing trauma. ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) also uses eye movement in combination with other therapeutic interventions like Gestalt, Psychodynamic Therapy and Guided Imagery to replace the negative images in the mind that cause the symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress with positive images of the client’s choosing.

  • EMDR is an interactive psychotherapy techniques used to relieve psychological stress differently from common talk therapy. Most likely candidates are adolescents or adults who experience depression, anxiety, PTSD, have been abused, or are recently sober from an addiction recovery program. It can also be effective to increase belief in self and increase relaxation in the body. Focusing on your strengths, positive memories, and internal resources can enhance the good already in your life. Learn more about EMDR therapy at EMDRIA.org.

  • Can have lasting negative effects on our well-being. Using treatment modalities specifically developed for treating trauma, we work on reducing symptoms of traumatic stress, improve coping, and increase resiliency. As conventional talk therapy becomes mainstream, we are learning about its limitations for creating change that sticks. The nervous system can get flooded and the energy of reactivity and impulse hijacks the best intentions. You may have learned new skills and gained understanding of yourself, but the deep hold of trauma in the body within the nervous system gets in the way of having the clear thinking required to use the new skills. EMDR approaches go deep to the root of what is causing reactivity, impulsivity, and urges.

  • ART integrates eye movements, guided imagery, and somatic awareness to help clients process distress without having to re-tell or re-live traumatic experiences. It’s practical, efficient, and highly adaptable to different clinical settings. It’s also a brief therapy with clients often finding relief from symptoms with only one session.

  • Protocols allow trauma in the body to be released without repetitive talking and reliving of the trauma.

These neural-based techniques can reduce the client’s need for pharmacological treatments. These treatments are appropriate for Mood Disorders such as Anxiety and Depression, OCD, Eating Disorders, PTSD as well as physiological issues such as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and other chronic pain conditions.
