Experience: I am approaching the second decade of working as a therapist. Early in life I learned that relationships matter. Growing up in a large family and rural farming community, I watched firsthand people coming around one another during joyous and difficult times. Working closely with families has been a passion of mine as a classroom teacher, family minister, and currently as a licensed therapist. Coming alongside struggling families sent me back to graduate school after being a teacher for several years.
Therapeutic style: I work from a family systems mindset incorporating DBT skill-based approaches, together with mindfulness and body awareness. I am also trained in several models of EMDR trauma therapy.
Populations Served: Ages 8 and up
Areas of Focus: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Life Transitions, Self-Esteem, Family of Origin, Blended Families, Grief and Loss, Domestic Violence, Relational Stressors, School and Work Stress, Communication and Spiritual Concerns, Concerns Related to Pregnancy and Postpartum.
Personal: My wife and I enjoy time with our three (almost) adult children whom we “accidentally” homeschooled. We have shared our home with foster children and provided a new space for kids while their families were going through a difficult season. I enjoy working with my hands and cooking of all kinds to share with family and friends.
